Renaud Lavillenie overcame his Amsterdam blip in the only way he knows on Monday night - by showing that form might be temporary but world class is permanent.

The French pole vaulter cleared 5.96m for a superb victory at the Meeting International de Sotteville as he counts down the days to the defence of his Olympic title in Rio. 

Lavillenie's victory at this European Athletics Outdoor Classic meeting saw him improve his world-leading mark by a centimetre, an important step after the disappointment of his 'no-height' at the European Athletics Championships.
